Generally, since you are in the military, you will have no problem getting the car into the US. If you have connections at a local inspection station, that is a good thing also. You can get just about anything insured (stated value insurance) from your local comapny also.
But your problem will be with your states DMV. The Skyline is not in their computer system because it does not conform to US emissions and crash standards. So you will have a problem getting the car registered. And before they will even register it, you have to obtain a US title. If the car is nonconforming, like the Skyline is, a red flag will be thrown when the aplication is being processed.
You can certainly try importing the car. But please realize you are facing a 95% chance of failure.
