ya sounds like a bunch of from both companies.

and the GTR is obviously going to be 100X more appealing than the ZR1...Its Cheaper!!

The lap times are just that, lap times. You've got to believe that each company will do what it can to get a better time. Hopefully they would not fudge the facts, but you never know. But they should get bragging rights. Wouldn't you want bragging rights if you set a record on Buttonwillow or somewhere else. Others may say you cheated but if you got an official time which was a record in your class, you would tell everyone who would care to listen.
Variability will always be there. You just have to try to compare the best you can. Unless we can build a robot to test cars on an indoor test track that gets resurfaced after every car run, you will always have variables that affect performance. Best way to compare a group of cars you want: Drive them all and pick the one you like. Too bad I won't be getting a test drive in a GTR or ZR1 anytime soon.
