Favourite GTR rims
What are favourite rims for GTRs?
Mine would be: R32: Volk TE37 R33: AVS model 5 R34: RAYS CN28N |
Nismo LMGT-1. hands down. #1.
all factory GTR wheels, as well. |
NIsmo wheels all the way. I have a set of 19" Bronze GT4s on my UK spec R33 GT-R Vspec for road use and a set of 18" GT1s for track use.

What do you guys think of the Gram Light 57s on an R33? Also, would there be any issues with an 18x9.5 +22 rim and 265/35/18 tire? As far as rubbing or brake issues...? Appreciate the look see.
|
in my opinion, Gram Lights are too thin looking on the whale R33 body. go with CE28N or LMGT1 or LMGT4. something like that. or stay OEM. the whole package must work. not just the wheels. look at the car and the wheels as one entity.
|
How about the tires though...? Is that an appropriate size, or will there be rubbing issues...
Also, you think the 57s are too thin?? I can't imagine that, I think they are pretty thick, certainly thicker than the CE28N's. I did take into consideration the look of the car as a whole, it is hard to imagine what it would look like though without seeing the 57s on a skyline in person. The last time I bought rims was for my evo, and it took me about 3 months to find the right rim, so I definitely take the car as a whole look into consideration. |
photoshop the wheels on. or browse gtr.co.uk galleries to find an example. some love the gram lights. but i'm biased. and don't really like them.

i'm gonna be mr. vague and say dunno. it depends.
for example, it is well known that GTRs and Silvias can go very wide without rubbing. LMGT-1s fit perfectly are 10 inches wide. i've never bought tires that wide before, so i cannot tell you right away what size i'd get. i can tell you OEM factory sizes right off my head: GTR34 (the widest OEM wheels) --- 245/40ZR18. Silvia will not be as forgiving with really wide setups. on my Maxima, for example, i'm running OEM GTR32s, at 255/50ZR16. and there's lots of room. and she's lowered 1.5". i have not yet bought tires for my R32, as she's still disassembled. but i'm going to run bronze LMGT-4s on her. and you can go really wide. common and great looking wheels for a GTR package are the Volk GT series: GT-C, GT-N, GT-P; GT-A. and those are 19" wheels (diameter). they're not cheap, but they are among the sharpest and most prestigious GTR accessories you can wear on your car. they look best on GTR33s and 34s. the best way is to try the tires. you can get cheap used tires, or one tire, as a test. go to a used tire yard and get one for like 40 bucks. get as wide a tire you can find and try it. that is the best test. if it fits, you can use it as the spare. then buy a mint set of your new tires. |
