New Member / R32 GT-R Owner
New here today, and new 1992 GT-R owner as of December 2017. Car fan/enthusiast; Not a tuner - or even mechanically-inclined. Always admired and desired cool and interesting cars but could never really afford or have the time to act on those feelings till now (age 57, semi-retired), tho I have managed to have three consecutive Audis as daily drivers (one A4 and two A6's) over the last 18 years which has been a motoring joy
As for extracurricular fun, I have had one "weekend car" at a time starting about 6 years ago, but now I own and (hope to keep) two; The GT-R being more of a "collectible" (driven less), and the new-to-me roadster more of a weekender to be driven more (tho its arguably collectible too):
1st - '04 Miata (sold to father in-law with first right of refusal to buy back)
2nd - '06 SL55 AMG (cherished for 10k, sold)
3rd - '17 370Z NISMO (awesome car, but sold bc I found...)
4th - '92 Godzilla! (a treat to drive 2-3 times monthly and take to C&C and shows. Beautifies my garage)
5th - '03 Honda S2000 (Godzilla's playful little mate - a true weekender)
So then, it finally happened: A repair needed for the R32. Turned hard-to-lock backing out of garage and heard a clunk (like what you hear on dry pavement when making tight turn with a true 4WD vehicle). Came home to find power steering fluid (brownish pink, smelled a little burnt) on driveway - also later in garage under car.
Any ideas or "its probably x" before I take it to a mechanic? Also, any suggestions as for picking someone to work on an R32 (will an experienced Nissan mechanic probably do, or should I hunt for a JDM guy)?
Hello all, and thanks in advance!
Bob
