Toyota FT-HS ( SUPRA ), Is it worth it ?
 

I am starting to think maybe I should hold off on The GTR I Pre ordered because of the

Toyota FT-HS... I am beginning to think maybe it is a car worth waiting for.

Give me some input guys... I think a Hybrid wouldn't be that bad with these Gas Prices.

The only thing that is kind of screaming out ( NO! ) to me about the new Toyota is the fact that I do not believe it would be as Modification friendly as a GTR..

Cause i plan on getting Cam Gears and Cam shafts / Boost controller/ Intake/ Turbo back exhaust/ Fuel Pump along with the Cobb Tuning AccessPORT..

I would not go to far as to call it the next Supra. Toyota as a company is a very conversative one, as such, if they were ever to release a new Supra; I'm don't think it will be FI and won't have a 6-spd manual option (which isn't a big deal considering the GT-R doesn't either--c'mon you know what I mean ;)). During the development of the IS-F, there were reports about how the chief engineer wanted a higher redline but the higher ups didn't because they wanted to make sure the engine will last over 200k. The point is, if there ever was a new Supra, it wouldn't be anything like the MKIV IMO.

I would not hold out for a new Supra as IMO there won't be one for quite some time (if ever) and we don't know about the mods potential of the electric engine in the FT-HS. Also, reports have it that Toyota would want to price this car in the sub $30k range; completely in a different league than the GT-R. Toyota doesn't have anything remotely sporty in their lineup. And with the current economic conditions (read: gas) Toyota is more focused on fuel-efficient boring cars.

I would keep your GT-R order.

it Depends on what you want out of the car.

if you WANT a hybrid car, then you know which one to choose.

but if you WANT a car to take to the track once a week you know which one to choose.

i wouldn't be surprised if toyota jumped back into having a sports car several years down the road,

sure right now they're focusing on re-allocation of plants and moving production lines around, they're clearly ramping up prius production, and I'd guess that they'll come out with a prius lineup pretty soon (similar to scion but just all their hybrid cars)

they're going to get some serious competition from the honda fit hybrid, but it will be priced lower and generally appeal to a different market segment
