G35x sedan already has it factory standard.

Yes the ATTESA has a more sophisticated ATTESA system and it's not cheap. I can get the 99 GTR drive-train clip E-TS for allot cheaper here in Miami at the port. I've been at a couple of auctions just to get a feel of how much there selling wrecked G35X sedans are no cheaper than 12k to a really banged up one for 6k and are very RARE right now. Then I have to spit out another $9k to 13K for an auction G35 coupe. Buying the car won't happen till 2007 as prices drop and variety of G35 coupe's and sedans go up. 2006 for me is all Engine and transmission build up. I'm working a deal right now for the RB26 motor with 33kmillage, transmission and harness $2,800 is his asking price. He's a good friend of mine and supplied me parts before. This will be a long project getting the engine in my garage is a big feat for me in itself so now I can use my weekends and tear this motor down.

Anyone with any suggestions please feel free to comment. Website of the project is coming soon.

Signal Auto Has put an RB26 in 1 already but no AWD (yet).

My only input on using the JDM Skyline RB26DETT / ATTESA powertrain would be that it is not emissions legal. If you want an offroad only car it would work, but it would never be legal for road use.

I would personally go with the G35 ATTESA AWD system and adapt it to the G35 coupe. But then again they may offer it next year in the coupe, and then your project will be overcome by events (OBE).

has anyone here tried getting an RB26 in a 350Z? i might wanna try that since i might not get a G35.

bonzelite 07-25-2006 11:09 PM

it's been done in a 300ZX, ie, Z32. and Supra. dunno about Z33.

so you are a mechanic, then? and you're going to buy an entire Z33, an RB26, RBtranny, and then have the engines and ECUs and harnesses swapped? with major custom crossmember fabrication? you must have a rich dad.

as well, it's not just the "RB26" that is the prize. it's the entire GTR. only putting an RB26 into a US-legal car such as the Z is NOT going to give you the feeling of a Skyline. so you can forget that. you will have an unbalanced Z car with a TT setup, and it will not drive nor feel like a GTR. you might as well, then, buy an aftermarket turbo kit made for the Z. it's far cheaper and less hassle.

if you want a GTR, only the GTR will feel like the GTR. nothing compares to GTR.

yea i did look up some turbos for the Z33, about 5-7k average. an RB26 on the other hand is like 9k+ for a good one. i am no mechanic, but my uncle is, so is my grandpa, been a mechanic since the time of the dinosaurs. i know the very very basics, but i am really interested in learning more about it.

an RB swap into a Z33 is something you'd see a tuner shop doing for a magazine cover. it would cost far over what the non-tuner consumer would ever imagine spending on cost and time and engineering. don't let me stop you. but i am not going to hold my breath.
