2008 Australian GP

Wow what a race. Alonzo did a really good job keeping Hiki behind him towards the end of the race. Also with the traction control removed from these cars, the race was more entertaining to watch. Anyone else watch the race?

Truly one of the most exciting races I have seen in F1 in a very long time. I mean really 8 cars finished the race. To be honest I was really pulling for Kubica in the BMW to take the poll away from Hamilton, but bleh to his off round excursion. Never the less a perfect drive and strategy for Lewis, Ferrari should have lots to be concerned about by Malaysia. Lastly I REALLY wanted to see Sebastien squared (Vettal and Bourdais) do well, especially at the end of the race. Lots of good drives and plenty of action, sure is going to be an awsome year in F1.

PS: Anyone see Tiger Woods sink the birdie put at 18 today? Seriously, what the hell?

I watched bits and pieces of it last night. My GF is into cars but she wouldn't sit down to watch the whole thing.

I saw the exciting start, a few more crashes and then a bit towards the end. I too thought that it was pretty amazing how few cars finished. I'm excited and still need to plan some time to get out and see a race.

The drivers are so young, I'm 23 and I feel kinda useless when I see them doing and driving like that.

I do think BMW will be a force to reckon with this year which is extremely exciting. I'm also looking forward to Toro Rosso's performance this year. I used to be a Alonso fan but ever since last year's drama, I look at him as more of a cry baby then anything else.

Finally you admit it! I will say that he did look like he made the absolute best out of what he had to work with in that renault

What a mess that race was 8 cars out of 22 finish. You didnt even have to be competitive to get a point. New slogan for f1 - "F1, Cluster**** to teh championship '08". Very entertaining though and should probably get a little less chaotic going forward....unless it rains. Great to see minor mistakes happen that previously wouldnt have allowing drivers to pass.

On another side, FIA/F1 mentioned that part of the reason for many of the new rules is to lower cost for teams so that less financed teams could be more competitive. Somehow, I think the added carnage is not cheap.

yeah, i looked over the rule changes for '08:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Fo...n#Rule_changes

and i'd been following how they're trying to make it cheaper and more environmentally friendly

it's so much more expensive than indycar with teams like ferrari running 500 million a year budgets

i think there was some talk about budget restriction in 2009?

Yeah, big budget restraints for 09. One specifically was wind tunnel testing which will be heavily limited
