2009 Nissan GT-R will be priced at $69,850

LOS ANGELES — Nissan announced today that its 2009 Nissan GT-R will be priced at $69,850 for the base model, and $71,900 for the Premium trim. Both prices include delivery charges.

Nissan intends to build just 1,500 GT-Rs per year during this model's lifecycle, and will announce dealer allocation plans later this week.

Pre-orders begin January 1, 2008, and the 2009 GT-R will officially go on sale in June.

What this means to you: If you haven't already made friends with your local Nissan dealer, better get on the stick. — Kelly Toepke, News Editor

NOTE: Premium model adds standard Bose® audio system, heated seats and side air bags.

Nicely priced! So, it seem like there is no 3 different trim levels (entry level, vspec and evolution) as it was believed by some people in the forums.

mgmbh 11-16-2007 03:06 PM

1500 cars worldwide or just in US?

EmilGH 11-16-2007 06:26 PM

1500 in the US.

Chase86 11-18-2007 12:07 PM

wow, only 1500... Porsche Sells over 10,000 911's here a year. too bad they're overpriced

S.Ratha 11-23-2007 09:30 PM

don't expect it to be sold at MSRP tho... 20k premium I hear?

darstar007 11-26-2007 05:58 PM

$60K over MSRP from a dealer in NorCal

ghotnit 11-26-2007 09:06 PM

60k over MSRP?!! THAT'S ANOTHER CAR!! ALMOST THE PRICE OF THE FIRST ONE!!! AT 120-130K, YOU ARE BACK IN PORSCHE TERRITORY!!
If they markup the car that much, how can you get financing? One car for the price of two?
I really hope that dealers don't get crazy with markups. Sure with a new, rare car there will be some markups but twice the value?

NERDJustBNME 11-30-2007 10:28 AM

My store is getting $20K over....but I'm in Virginia. $60K over MSRP in Cali seems about right for their median income...It's a lot of Google millionaires out there that will pay more than $60K for one just for the exclusivity of having a GT-R.

spt 11-30-2007 11:12 AM

The dealers are banking on the hype. They are just trying to make as much $$ as they can now. Once the hype dies down, the cars will be selling at msrp or below.

darstar007 11-30-2007 02:43 PM

Very true. Cars are obviously status symbols in Cali more than anywhere. Too many young millionaires out there to compete with wanting to be the first GT-R on the block. I don't expect to see near MSRP anytime soon around here.

I wonder how much a lease would be for a GTR here in va with a large down payment

Depends on what they think the residual will be. That's when we'll all know how much hype is in the Nissan pricing.

SpeeD2 12-10-2007 12:44 PM

Highest median income in the country is in VA. Farifax County and Loudoun County.

young millionaire can afford cars like Ferrari, and 911 turbo etc. they won't be crazy over the NISSAN skyline, after all it's a nissan and they are all about status symbol.

The R35 is a status symbol.

Many of the people buying the first ones are wealthy.

fugiwara 02-23-2008 11:01 AM

it is status symbol for us b/c we are into JDM fast cars , but for people who has tons of money, they want something more exotic, like Enzo Ferrari and Bugati Veyron or Pagani Zonda.

fugiwara 02-23-2008 11:02 AM

If you show up in hollywood, those rich people will def. recognize ferrari more than a nissan skyline. But I will get a nissan GTR over anything else b/c of the performance. But for very rich people they can afford cars 10 times cost of skyline.

Several people buying the GT-R already have Gallardos and Porsches. It is a status symbol whether you believe it is or not. It's status as a cult icon is something that intrigues people.

Of course it's not the same as Ferrari. It carries a different aura. But the GT-R is making headlines and car enthusiasts are getting to know what it is. It's beating most all other cars in performance tests. It outperforms the exotic status symbols and many owners of these other cars are among the first buyers.

fugiwara 02-23-2008 11:11 AM

sure, the nissan skyline is making its way there, and it's status symbol for people who's into cars. And yeah, tell me about it outperforms many exotic cars, i am a japanese and I grow up with these car in my country. And my evo MR outperform so many expensive cars as well.

rmatt8748 02-23-2008 11:32 AM
