Lots of cars with huge markups!
So apparently the GT-R isn't the only car that's expected to face huge markups.
I found these both on Leftlane M3 Coupe marked up $30K by dealer http://images.leftlanenews.com/conte...m3-wind-ri.jpg While the Nissan GT-R is expected to be marked up nearly 100 percent in some cases by dealers when it arrives, BMW’s newly landed M3 coupe is already sporting prices inflated with a $30,000 “Dealer Market Adjustment.” This effectively turns the $70K coupe into a $100,000 investment, or a mark-up of 42 percent! BMW dealer Century West in California is the culprit, proudly showcasing the extortionate adjustment right on the window sticker. That sounds like a good place to do it, because if trendy California suburbanites or Hollywood stars won’t pay such a premium, who will? BMW’s newest M certainly drew rave reviews from most, if not all, members of the press who’ve driven it, but is the hotter relatively mainstream coupe worth similar money to much more exclusive, exotic supercars? Only time will tell. The M3 has been on sale in Europe since September, where healthy competition from other European manufacturers helped the prices stay closer to their manufacturer-suggested ones. and Why not? $350,000 Corvette ZR1 on Craigslist http://images.leftlanenews.com/conte...rvette-zr1.jpg With dealer markups pushing the Nissan GT-R's price tag to $129,000 and the BMW M3 Coupe's to $100,000, why not a privately sold 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 for $350,000? That's the price one man is asking (each) for two of his three pre-ordered ZR1s. Apparently the man will be keeping one of the super-Corvettes for himself, but is selling the other two on Craigslist to cover the cost of his purchase. With a planned production run of only about 2,000 examples, the ZR1 will no doubt be in short supply, but we highly doubt that short of supply. Chevrolet has yet to announce pricing for the Corvette ZR1, but all indications point to a price tag of around $100,000. That being said, even if dealers markup the ZR1's sticker price by 100 percent, you're nowhere near $350,000 — a staggering $300,000 more than a base 'Vette. Yes, markups are a way of life. The secondary/private/flipping market is even worse than what dealers are doing!

yeah, at first i think that it's really too bad, but then my training in economics makes me think that if someone will pay, power to them
if someone will pay that much it means that its worth that much to them, so who not. it's still easy to get mad about it though |
Wow, 30K for a car that they are producing around 10,000 units a year for. And the GTR was bad?

Its also generally true of the first ones, but goes away as long as there is enough being produced. When a new mercedes model comes out, they often see huge markups on the first units, but in no time they are actually discounting. I do not believe the markup on the m3 will last. And although I think it will last a little longer, I think it wont be too long before its gone on the GTR as well

Dealers can ask whatever they want.....but the new M3 is already being discounted, not alot, but you can easily get $500-1000 off MSRP from mid-west dealers already on M3's on the floor.
