Little help please (BMW M6 vs GT-R)

7-speed Sequential Manual Gearbox (SMG) with drivelogic on an BMW M6 Coupe vs the all-new GR6-type transmission on the GT-R

In your un-biased opinion does the SMG of the M6 match up against the GR6 tranny of the GT-R?

The reason why I ask is because I'm trying to get a client of mine to get a GT-R over the M6 Coupe. The only problem(s) I'm running into is the SMG vs GR6. Believe it or not his wife is insisting he buys the GT-R!!! But, he is dragging his feet! So I'm asking for a little help if I can get it!

Thanks ahead of time!

No, they are not an even match. The m6 SMG is good, but of an earlier generation of these types of transmissions. The GTR is more on par with the Ferrari(not including the new scuderia) units being faster, more advanced, and more track oriented. Much better suited for track and sport driving as that is what it is built for. The SMG is built more as a standard shift alternative for the street and is more on par with the Audi units although a little better IMO

Ditto to the above comments. Although I have not driven an M6 with the SMG tranny, I have driven several M3's. Although the SMG is nice, I believe the GTR's will be superior...according to the facts and specs from Nissan, the GTR's tranny will outperform the SMG.

Charles & Winkie thank you! My client came in Saturday night and we discussed the GT-R and the M6 at length. When I felt as if I had nothing else to say I pulled up the gtrforums website and let him look at your responses. He also checked out a couple of other links and decided to go with the GT-R rather than the M6. Of course the scowl his wife was giving him at the time helped the situation as well...lol

Glad to be of assistance. I wish my problem was deciding between those two cars...but I would take the GTR any day over an M6...I believe that the only thing that the M6 will outperform the GTR in is top speed. But some people think that the BMW sign on the front and back of their car is more important than how the car performs...but that's just not me. Performance ftw.
